Welcome to the Cary Mayor's Task Force on Disability

We are citizens interested in:

  • creating awareness of disability issues
  • improving accessibility for citizens with disabilities to recreation, transportation and public services in Cary
  • advocating for persons with disabilities and seeking resolution of concerns affecting them.


National Park Passes for Senior/Disabled
More than 2,000 federal recreation sites are accessed by a pass that covers entrance fees at national parks and national wildlife refuges as well as standard amenity fees at national forests and grasslands. Together on Center Stage
There are various acting opportunities available through �Together on Center Stage�, a unique program for individuals of all abilities and ages. TOCS provides a performing arts vehicle for each member of the group regardless of experience or ability. This program promotes inclusion and is dedicated to developing social and performance skills, building self-esteem, discipline, responsibility, and positive values through the creative arts.

Life Experiences 
A workshop/employment program for older individuals of all ablilites; they do various laundry services, labelling services, run a bakery and other business services; individuals are paid. Mary N. Madenspacher, MSW is the Executive Director mary@lifeexpeeriences.org

Task Force Meeting Location and Time
Our meetings are at the Page Walker Arts & History Center.

Time: 12-1 p.m., second Wednesday of each month.

Place: Page Walker Arts & History Center, second-floor conference room. An elevator is available for those who need it.

Directions: Located on Ambassador Loop on Town Hall Campus. The campus is off North Academy Street, between Chapel Hill Road and Chatham Street in downtown Cary.
